day 126/ 365 Rita and Carl

Today was yet another insane day.  First- I had to wake up at 4:30 am to get ready and go to the grocery store.  I went and bought items for our teacher appreciation day "food cart" {we pushed a cart around with coffee, tea, cookies, doughnuts, muffins, candy on it and let the teachers pick and choose from it}.  For 150 teachers+ staff, that's a lot of junk!
After making several trips up and down the stairs with the food from my car, I got the cart set up to go and started making many pots of coffee and cold-brew iced tea.  Then first hour started and the kids were off to deliver the goods.
While they were delivering, I had to make my copies for the day.  After sweating up a storm and getting all of this ready, I had to be observed 2nd hour...yikes.  All went well in class, except at the end, when the cart came back into the room and my class was interrupted.  So they stopped and started lining up at the door while the principal was in there.  Great.  So much for "teach to the bell".
After being observed, it was time for making more coffee and tea.  Restocking the cart. Over...and over...and over.
After all day with that, then school was over.  It was time to clean up the mess.
I ran home, tried to sit down for about an hour because my foot is KILLING ME, took a shower, and got dressed for the senior citizens prom that Student Council hosted tonight.
I drove over to Glen Carbon and we started decorating.  Before I knew it, the evening had flown by and Rockin' Rita and Carl were prom king and queen:

I'm so proud of these kids. They really just give and give and they really help me to be a better person. They inspire me and make me laugh and give me hope in the young people of today. This is probably my favorite event of the year because it makes the older folks happy and it makes the younger folks shine:

  1. Ummm I believe the opposite is true...YOU make THEM better people. I don't think I know a more dedicated person esp. to the student council. Looks like the oldsters had a lot of fun and the king and queen are adorable.

    Have a great weekend.
